The (virtual) Ohioana Book Festival

Covid-19 doesn’t always keep us from having nice things. This year’s OBF was scheduled for April 25th, but got closed down with the rest of the planet. The kindly librarians who ran the event knuckled down and created a completely on-line version. there are several live ZOOM panels on various aspects of writing. Those and pre-recorded events, like previous out-reach events and my reading from Squirrel Apocalypse, will all be posted on the website later this evening.

You can also check out the roster of authors & illustrators or buy autographed copies of their featured books on the site. Helpful link dropped below:

My First Book Events of the Year

I’m a bit late in announcing this, but I am very please to be included in the Ohioana Book Festival this year. I will have my new horror/comedy “Squirrel Apocalypse” along with the new editions of my three Arcanum Faire books. The event will be Saturday, April 25, 2020 from 10:30a.m.-5:00p.m. at Columbus Metropolitan Public Library’s Main Library at 96 S. Grant Avenue Columbus, OH 43215. Entry is free. Dozens of other Ohio authors will be there to discuss their work on assorted panels and hawk their wares. For more info, consult the link below:

On Sunday, I will be at the Ashville Viking Festival, held at the Ashville Community Park, 200 Walnut St, Ashville, OH 43103. The festival runs from 10 am to roughly 5 or 6 pm. My wife Kit will be filling in for me there on Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. Navigation and other details can be extracted here.

This is as close as I can get to be two places at once, especially as I am still be treated for colorectal cancer. I am betting by then I will be on my feet and just as strange as ever. See you there.

A Quick Word from our Author

YES!!!!

I have just sent back what I believe to be the final changes on Ren Faire at the End of the World. All that remains for me is the Dedication, Acknowledgements, and the back cover. With luck, my publisher can set a publication date so that I’ll be eligible for next year’s Ohioana Book Festival.

After that, back to squirrels and lacquered kites.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled internet browsing.

Selling Books with Grown-ups

This Saturday, April 23th, I will get to rub elbows with ninety-nine other authors and meet and greet thousands of Ohio book-lovers. It is the Ohioana Book Festival that features Ohio writers, and/or Ohio content. Since my Arcanum Faire books “Camp Arcanum” and “Power Tools in the Sacred Grove” are set in Arcanum Ohio, Darke county , and I live in the wildlife-rich Columbus suburb of Worthington, I finally qualified.

I will also get to sit on the first literary panel of the day “Urban Fiction and Dystopia” with local genre authors Matt Betts, Laura Bickle, Lissa Bryan and, Terri-Lynne Smiles. Several accomplished genre authors will be sitting in my corner of the hall, so it should be quite a party.

The authors’ reception at the Statehouse afterwards should be a blast, too, though it may be entirely too respectable for the likes of me.
